Roll over...

For those of you who have spent any amount of time with Robert, you know that he enjoys his belly. He prefers to sleep on his belly (rather than his back, which is the 'rule' when it comes to putting baby to sleep) After a few nervous nights, I became accustomed to Robert's sleeping preferences and since he had/has a very strong neck (he held his head up on his own since very early on) I felt okay about his sleeping on his belly. He has been able to roll from his BELLY to his BACK for about 6 weeks now.

At school, the rule is "Back to Sleep" We will not place a baby in his or her crib in any other position except for their back. Once the baby is able to roll from his or her belly (from their back) they are allowed to be placed to sleep on their belly. (Being that I am his mom, I always broke the rules. I always put Robert in his school crib on his belly, and just hoped that no one would notice.)

Today, at school, Robert was laying on the floor on his back. He had just finished a bottle and I placed him that way. Within a few minutes, I took notice that he was on his belly! I asked the girls if anyone had moved him. No one said they had. Hmm, curious.
I rolled him over to his back and he quickly rolled himself back to his belly!

So, hooray for our little man! We are so proud of the accomplishments he is making! Now mommy doesn't have to hope that no one notices when she puts him in his crib in the illegal belly position!

One last vacation pic Posted by Picasa

Safe and Sound

We're home. Our vacation was a success. Bobby and I spoke last night about how it didn't seem to 'fly by' nor did it drag. It was just right. We had a beautiful 'beachy' condo on the Port Royal Plantation on Hilton Head Island. We really like it there and are talking about returning next year.

Robert was an angel on the plane ride home. He made friends with everyone who looked at him. He has this smile that makes even the grumpiest if people (like the woman who sat behind us) smile and laugh. It melts my heart. Three times at the airport, random people came up to tell us how beautiful he is.

Robert tried some cereal this morning. I have been anxious to start it with him, but didn't want to bother just before vacation. (meanwhile, he tried some ice cream, mustard, ketchup, and sucked on a few frenchfries, canteloupe, pickles, peppermints while we were away!) So, needless to say, he took the cereal like a champ... no mess, either! He slept for nearly 3 hours after he ate his "breakfast." Which was very nice for Mommy to get things unpacked and put away.

Daddy is away this week... we miss him terribly. I hope Robert gets back into his sleeping through the night routine - mommy too!

Tomorrow is back to work day...

Going away

Tomorrow, we will be taking Robert on his first plane ride! We are going to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a week. My friend (and roommate) from college will be getting married there on July 9th, and I am a bridesmaid in her wedding (the token f-a-t bridesmaid! -blah) So we decided to change our annual Myrtle Beach trip to a Hilton Head vacation this year. None of us has ever been there, so we have no idea what to expect. Bobby will golf, of course... and Robert and I will hang out by the pool and at the beach with grandmom (she's coming too!)

I'm both anxious and nervous. Traveling with a baby is going to be hard... but I can't wait to show him off!

I can't remember if I posted that Robert is sleeping through the night now! He goes down at about 9 (some days it earlier) and sleeps until about 5am! Of course, I am up to check on him a few times each night and I need to continue to pump overnight to keep my supply up, so its not like I am getting much more rest anyway... another reason I am looking forward to this vacation!

We'll post from HH, so stay tuned... Robert will be 14 weeks on the 4th of July and he plans to be VERY patriotic!
